FMEA is an abbreviation of the initial letters of the phrase “Failure Modes and Effects Analysis”. The Czech translation uses the phrase “Analysis of possible defects and their consequences”. It is a basic analytical method that aims identification and prevention of possible occurrencesford in the production, design and development of a new product or process.

FMEA is used in development to risk reduction failures in reliability, maintenance, availability and safety. System, product or process analysis helps to properly tune the technical specifications and to drive efforts for improvement that the customer can see. The method can be used both for evaluation and subsequent elimination of risks associated with the solution itself, as well as for evaluation and elimination of risks associated with its implementation.
